There’s a cute little place in Cottonwood named R.I.O.T. (did you think I was advocating a state of unrest at first?) R.I.O.T. = Rendezvous In Old Town, and is in the older part of Cottonwood right before the curve going into the “old” main road (it’s easily still the busiest). It’s housed in an old working garage shop and the atmosphere is easygoing and welcoming.
If you haven’t been to Cottonwood, it’s a great day trip if you’re in the Valley or any of the surrounding towns like Jerome, Sedona, Prescott…you could even make the trip easily from Flagstaff in an afternoon.
R.I.O.T. is considered Cottonwood’s premier gastropub and has a large patio to enjoy the cooler Cottonwood weather. They’ve got plenty of TV’s for sports watching. They also have a lounge area if you prefer a couch, picnic tables, a handful of games you can play like pool, darts, bags (or corn hole if you prefer), and board games. They have karaoke night on Friday & Saturday (starts at 8pm), Taco Tuesday, and Sunday Brunch- what more could you need in life? It’s also dog friendly which is a huge bonus for lots of people! Here are some pics of different spots throughout so you can get a feel for the vibe:
Scrolling through their online reviews demonstrates how well loved they are in their local community and just how darn good their food and drink selections are. We stopped in earlier this year when I was still in my shoulder sling from surgery and couldn’t do much at the time. We had just visited Montezuma’s Castle and stopped for a quick bite to eat on our way to Tuzigoot. If you missed those posts, click on the accompanying link to get caught up. That was actually a great day trip from the Valley: Montezuma’s Castle, Montezuma’s Well, R.I.O.T. and Tuzigoot. I think we were even home at a decent hour.
Back to their food and drink. Oh my heavens. I don’t remember the exact name of either my meal or the one my husband had but wow they were amazing. We were there during brunch and I had a crab cake benedict of some sort. Over a bed of asparagus were sliced tomatoes, their version of hollandaise sauce, perfectly cooked and super tasty crab cakes, with a perfectly poached and seasoned egg. I devoured the entire plate. My husband had a meal that consisted of tater tots, eggs, and meat (I think it was pork). He also devoured his plate and said it was amazing and that the meat was cooked just as it should have been.
We didn’t try any of their beers (we opted for a mimosa and bloody mary), but they have 30+ Arizona and other craft beers on tap. If we lived in Cottonwood, this spot would probably be high on our frequently visited places if nothing else just to get out and have a beer or two on a Friday night.
If you’re looking for a spot to grab a bite to eat in Cottonwood, this is it. Be sure to stop in (and then let me know how much you loved it!).
