This week isn’t your normal Arizona-y stuff–we’re going to Cali! That’s because we’ve been busy outside of Arizona and while I do have some AZ stuff up my sleeve, I thought I’d bring you some beautiful shots from our trip to CA instead. I mean, who doesn’t love a beautiful coastline near wine country, anyway?
So, I hope you enjoy this short non-Arizona post and still look forward to the AZ stuff I’m highlighting next week.
We spent a few days in Northern California, more specifically, wine country! However, we took a short trip to the coast during one of the days we were there and did a 2 mile hike at Bodega Bay.
This hike was so awesome because it walked us right along the coastline and provided us with spectacular views of the ocean.
We could even hear seals from a distance. It was even more incredible when at the halfway point, we saw a tiny rock sticking up in the water and there were tons of seals on it basking in the sun and a handful bobbing up and down in the water nearby.
This was seriously such a beautiful trip and a great reminder that although I love me some Arizona, I also LOVE the ocean. So relaxing and peaceful, in my opinion.
Here’s a map of the area we visited. We went to the “Hole in the Head” location and did our hike from that spot. There were a couple of hikes you could do, but we chose the 1.9 mile loop (although, we got halfway around the loop and just turned around and went back…because it seemed that the other half of the loop was away from the coastline and we wanted to see water!)
We spent the rest of our trip in Sonoma and Napa Valley, as we were up there for my friend’s wedding in Sonoma at the Viansa Winery. What a gorgeous piece of property they have! The wedding was beautiful and so much fun to see our friends get married!
The last morning of our trip, we took a walk around Downtown Sonoma. I think it’s such a cute little town! We’d been before but didn’t have as much time on the Sonoma side as we did Napa, so it was nice to explore it more this go ’round. (Although, we stopped in at the famous Villa Corona for burritos on the Napa side. SO good every time we eat there!)
One of my favorite things about Downtown Sonoma is the old world style of buildings and City Hall has an awesome rose garden surrounding it. Someone certainly takes pride in it, that’s for sure.
Hope you’ve had a great couple of weeks, we’ll be back in the swing of things now that a handful of our trips out of AZ are behind us.
