Hospitals are funny things. As I sit here waiting for my grandmother to get out of the recovery phase of the surgery she just endured, I find my mind wandering and thinking back to a trip my husband and I took in November to Kaua’i. While I am comforted by the fact that I know my grandmother is going to be fine and this was a necessary and pre-planned procedure, I am also calmed by thinking back to the beautiful ocean that surrounded us on our trip just a few short months ago.
It was one of the more beautiful trips I’ve been on and I can’t wait to go again. I love all sorts of vacations- the kind where you sit around and do nothing except drink, relax, and sunbathe, as well as the kind where you’re boarding down the mountain all weekend long (or insert any other outdoors activity here). But, this trip had a blend of both. We relaxed, drank, went zip-lining, went on a dinner cruise, went to a luau, and celebrated our anniversary. It was perfect.
I’ll keep this post short as I really can’t explain the calmness that this place brought me. All I can say is that, remembering back to that trip has been helpful in calming my mind yet again today.
